Mint Adds Loans And Mortgages
Share This
We’ve just released our largest set of new features this year. In fact, it’s out biggest update since our product launch. One of the biggest changes: Mint now supports nearly all types of loans – we just added over 1,000 lending institutions.
Add your Student, Auto and Other Loans
We heard your feedback on the importance of adding loans to get a more complete view of your personal finances. You can now track these loan balances and receive alerts when payments are due. Protect your credit score by letting Mint help you pay these bills on time.
Add your Mortgage
Hey, it’s the biggest borrowing most of us will ever do; keep a close eye on it with Mint. You’ll get automatic reminders when your mortgage payments are due. It’s one more way Mint.com can help you avoid paying fees and penalties.
If you’re a Mint user, please check it out.
If you’ve been waiting to become a Mint user until we added Loans and/or your bank, now’s the time. In addition to adding multiple loan types with this release, we’ve also added several new financial institutions and now support more than 7,000.
We look forward to your feedback.

I’m excited about this feature and I find it ironic that you used VW Credit in your example screenshot. The only problem is that I can’t seem to find it in your listing of available loans. Bummer
I see US Dept. of Education in the screenshot as well and can’t seem to find that either. Anyone had luck with adding Federal school loans yet?
Has anyone had any luck adding federal student loans?
Funny you say that Ryan, I can’t find the US dept of education either!
Perhaps something is wrong with the search?
Nevermind, although I couldn’t find it by name, once I searched by url it came up.
Rock on! This is awesome!
Mint needs to include foreign banks. Since I live overseas currently, Mint’s utility is cut in half because Mint can’t process my Barclays account which contains my day to day spending.
amy – what url did you search with? i still can’t find it.
I was excited too to see that VW Credit picture in the post. I had requested this last week. Still not available though…
Is there a way to add in your home as an asset, since adding a mortgage brings the Net Worth all the way down?
Wells Fargo Loans not supported.
Response from mint team support:
Only Wells Fargo Financial Bank-issued Visa®, MasterCard®, and Cash on Demand® personal loan account are currently eligible for online access. All other Wells Fargo Financial accounts (personal loans, home equity loans/lines and retail store credit card accounts) are not yet eligible for online access.
wow… instead of a date for the post we get this nifty “435 days ago” message. Wish it was just a date.
Ok. So here we are in October2009 and I’m still not able to access my Wells Fargo mortgages through Mint.
A useful feature, for sure, but getting support on this has been like pulling teeth. Multiple folks have posted that USAA accounts aren’t working properly, but the answers we’re getting suggest our reports are only getting a cursory glance. Trying to add USAA accounts always fails during the account adding process, sticking on “downloading transactions.” I understand that transactions are not supported at this point, but because the accounts never successfully load in the first place, even balances are not visible.
Emails to support have also gone unanswered after over a week. Is anyone out there to take feedback on this, or are we out of luck? I’ll settle for a simple “we’re aware of the problem, have replicated it, and are working on it” at this point.
Chris, I apologize for the delayed response from us in the forums. As we’ve said elsewhere, we’re not responding as quickly as we want to to customer inquiries right now, due to high traffic volumes,. We’re are adding capacity and technology to address this. To your specific questions:
I have been looking into some if the add account issues with USAA. For the last several days about 6 in 10 people that try to add the USAA loan account are successful. This is below average and for the folks that are having failures, there is a usually a common thread. Sometimes loans that were issued from another bank\underwriter, and then acquired by USAA can be the issue. If so inclined, send me an email aforth@mint.com and I can investigate further.
Some others points of interest: Mint will send bill reminders for loan payments. This is a new feature…if you have already set your account up to get notified of credit card bills and you have added a loan, you should get a bill reminder.
Balance vs. transactions…..as of today (assuming you have successfully added your account) you will only see the balance for your loans. In the coming weeks we will add more information, such as transactions, details about the loan product itself and (the feature I personally love) notification when your interest rate changes.

Hi – any plans to expand Mint.com service to Australia? It sounds like such a great concept!
If my financial institutions are not linked in, is it still possible to use the service and download info manually?
Thanks for your help!
Ditto Stella’s comment… I would love to be able to use Mint here in Oz.
Are US dept of Education loans accesible? Amy above seems to think so but I can’t find them by name or url.
You can add US dept of Education loans by searching for “FSA Direct Loan”. I found this in the forums.
It would be really nice if one could add other assets, specifically, a house that the mortgage pertains to so that the net worth is more accurate.
I’m having problems entering my loans. Both my mortgage and truck loan are through banks I have other accounts with. When I log into my bank I then choose which account I want to view. Mint always goes to my checking/savings accounts and cannot bring up the loan accounts. Has anyone else had this problem?
I can’t add my well’s fargo info. I just end up with:
We’re having difficulty finding that account.
Wells Fargo has different web sites for different account types. Try logging in on their site to see if this is the right one. If your login attempt fails, don’t worry, you can try other Wells Fargo sites.
Then, another blank form. Which, if filled out, yields:
We’re having difficulty finding that account.

Then, I try the checking (versus credit card). Guess what:

So, I try to add a loan through the mint sidebar. After filling out the test questions for the umpteenth time, yet another:

Leaving yet another blank page to fill out when correcting.
See any issue here? It would sure be helpful not to have to completely start over and just to be able to manage manually if mint is incapable.
I get that with IBMSECU also, but only for my heloc loan. Checking, savings and credit card work fine.
I get all the same problems with Well Fargo and they said that they do not support Mint, just Quicken and can not help.
Hi:
Do we have any luck with seeing the loan transactions yet. Its one thing you dont see the transactions but the down stream impact is that the budget is all jacked up. I have a automatic payment plan set up so I dont really care about reminders as much but at the end of the month I have a huge amount debited from my Cash Account and its not reconciled with the equal amount in the loan transaction.
